With each holiday that comes along, Nate and I have been taking time to think about how we want to celebrate it with our family. Not just sticking to old family traditions, but really deciding what we believe and what we want to share with our girls, making them our own traditions.
A few years ago I picked up something called Resurrection Eggs. I thought it looked like kind of a neat way to share the story and meaning of Easter, through the eyes of a child.
The girls were a little too young to really grasp the whole idea of Jesus dying on the cross when we started last year, but we gave them a shortened version and they really seemed to understand the basics.
The idea of the Resurrection Eggs is that there are twelve eggs and you open one each day before Easter. Each egg has something in it that tells the story of Jesus in his last days. The last egg is opened on Easter morning...can you guess what is in it?!!
This year, the girls really got into it and by the end were able to tell about each item, what it meant, and how important it is to our faith. I love hearing our girls, in their own words, describe and tell this amazing story.
This has definitely become a family tradition for us. Helps us to keep our focus where it really matters during this holy time of year.
Thank you Jesus for the act of of selflessness you displayed for us. I am humbled and amazed by your love of us.

The eggs have been a part of our tradition for years as well. In fact some are cracked and broken!
