Tornado Time!

Yesterday our area was hit with a tornado, a very large one. Thankfully it missed our city but was about 5 miles from our house at one point. My mom works in the town that was hit the hardest. It is interesting because I am reading a book about learning to pay attention with all of your senses to what, how, and when God is speaking to you. I think he prompted me to call my mom at work, just to make sure she knew that a tornado was heading her way. She was not aware, they were just having a bad hail storm. After she got off the phone with me, all power went out, including cell phones, so she had no way of communicating with anyone. She was in a bit of a panic, left the store and got in her car heading for home...as fast as she could, praying the whole way. She said it was a bit like a scene from the movie Twister. A wheel barrow flew in front of her, her car got pretty banged up. But, praise God she was fine and made it home safely. My mom felt so strange leaving in such a panic, knowing that was not the safest thing to do, but again just felt that prompting in her spirit to do so. She got out just in time. After talking to a coworker later, a huge tree fell right where my mom had parked her car, literally minutes after she left.
On the other end of the storm, our friends' were affected. He works at a feed lot and was in his truck when the twister hit. He is fine but they have whole lot of cattle to sort out and get behind fences that were torn up.
Nate and I took a drive around this evening to see some of the places it hit, it was really amazing.
I know that there are devastating things that happen all over, but when it hits places you know it is so much harder to see.
We are entering a stormy time of year and it is just amazing to see the power behind these storms. It fascinates me to think of God's power in times like this. Do you know Him? He is an awesome God!
